Atari Games?

I know that Atari was all the rage in the 80s and really the way the gaming industry made its way into the homes of millions of Americans. With that being said has anyone started to use the gaming systems that are being sold now that are loaded with some of the older games?

Hello Charity,

I am a firm believer in backwards compatibility all the way. Plus I am 32 so I am old school, our very first household console was the Atari, so I'm partial to the older systems. I think if I was 90, blind, and deaf i could hammer out some Space Invaders, The Legend of Zelda games and Mario without missing a beat lol

I think i finally realized why we always got the new consoles for Christmas. Our parents saw an opening and took it.
Put the child in front of a tv, turn on said console...and...Voila you just bought an in-home babysitter. ;)

What are your personal views?

Until The Next Time

I think 'Test Drive Unlimited 2' was released by Atari just a few years ago. The multiplayer was terrible but everything else was pretty good. It's an open world driving game, you might like it.

Wow, I played the shit out of that game. More problems than anything else I ever played at launch, but damn it was fun. However, I don't think OP meant newer games that are published by Atari, I think she is talking about the original Atari console.

I never played any of the original Atari games or consoles so I thought I'd just throw that out there. What did you think about the single player? In my opinion it was too oriented towards the younger demographic.

It certainly was directed toward younger players in my opinion. Aside from completing the races, I did not play that much single player. I played with two friends a lot however, especially in the casino DLC. We had a lot of fun playing poker and slots.

My parents had an Atari, they loved video games while we were growing up. I can fondly remember taking turns with my mom while playing Pitfall among other games :)

I remember about 13 years back, my aunt whipped out this funny looking old - wide black box with something sticking out on the top. It was the first time I've ever seen a Gemini Atari. I can't even remember the games we played on it anymore (I do remember that it had a button on the side) but it was interesting.

Oh, Atari how you remind me of my early childhood where some else paid the bills. lol. I am in the process of obtaining a Gemini. Gotta love E-bay..it is where I have found most of the old consoles for way cheap. If you are into collecting relics of the past then try E-bay! :)

It seems we had the same experience with that game. I found the characters and especially the voices extremely annoying. I don't think an 8 year would have found them engaging in any capacity. Did you achieve VIP status in the casino DLC?
