Have you ever tried making your own Android app/game?

Have you ever tried to code your own Android app or game? I decided a year or two ago that it was something I wanted to get into, so I set about learning using Java to make Android apps and games. I'd already had experience in computer programming from when I was younger but hadn't done any for several years. I couldn't believe how difficult it was to learn how to use Java with Android - very awkward, to say the least. However, I can now just about make basic apps and games for Android but it took a lot of hard work and frustration just learning the basics! Have you ever had a go at this or is it something you would like to get into?

I started to make a game on the iPhone, then I realize you had to have a apple computer to run their IDE / development tools. So, i said shove it.

Yep, that's exactly why I've never like Apple. I would never buy an Apple device. With Android I can either download AIDE to an Android device and make apps on that directly, or I can use Eclipse or IntelliJ IDEA on a Windows computer.

I think this summer I'll spend some time by learning the basics about making an app. I told that to myself a long time ago and I hope this summer I'll have the time. So, how did you do? Did you managed to finish your app evantually?

It can be quite daunting at first, there's a lot of information to take in and just setting up a development environment can be quite frustrating. Then when you do get round to actually trying to learn how to develop an app and putting what you've learned into practice, it's gets even more frustrating! But don't let that put you off, it's just that there are certain guidelines which must be adhered to with Android. I have now made a total of ten apps. I gave all of them away for free and made $200 from them. They're not available any more though.
