Have You Hunted Before?

#1
I remember the first time I went out hunting with my father and his friends. I was still in grade school. We went to a recreation area. We hunted birds with rifles. That was the first time I held a weapon. I fired a rifle. I forgot what rifle it was, but it only had an iron sight. I fired one at a passing bird...and I completely missed.

I saw my dad's friends hit one bird after the other though. We had the birds prepped for roasting after the trip. Ah, memories.

I've practiced shooting but I've never actually been out there and been able to hunt. I've always made plans but they fell through in the end. I think it would be really exciting to be able to go out and find my own food like that, then again I suppose fishing is the same thing.
I own a bow, for reference. So it's a bit harder to find people who go out shooting bows instead of guns where I live.

What kind of bow? I do not know much about hunting bows. I am eyeing a recurve, but it is for competition. Olympic recurves are too noisy for hunting.

Hunting is needed for survival if you are out in the woods and maybe get lost...or want to have some adventure. I only fished once, but it was in an enclosure. I caught one though. We cooked it later on.

It's a Hoyt with dual cams. I got her as a gift for my birthday many years back and just got it to the right specs for me to use it finally, just nowhere to go with it. Ha, life's a bit funny that way.
I love using bows, it just feels so primal and the back workout is definitely a plus. I remember the first time testing a bow I shot it so many times and by the next morning I felt like I got run over by a truck.

Do you know what kind of bird it was? I've tried hunting pheasants with a bow and arrow and failed horribly.

I have been hunting a few time before with my father and friends. I froze my butt off and did not get anything, ugh.
I cannot shoot a riffle to save my life, but I do enjoy shooting old hand guns at the range. I just prefer to hunt inside though. Duck Hunt, Ghosts, monsters & People. You stay warm and usually have no hard time hitting anything lol. :)

Yes I have hunted a few times before but I started alot later than alot of people. The first time I went hunting was when I was in my early 20s and ever since ive been hooked. It is crazy how much adrenaline you get and the whole experience is fun overall.

Glad you had fun bud, but my experiences were completely different so I guess I am a little jaded at hunting, but do not get me wrong, I sure can cook it! :) I guess that's what house bitches do lol.
