Atari / Arcade Ok Xtremers, an honest question

#1
Hello everyone and I thought I would ask you guys ( and gals ) a question. Now be honest, do you now or have in the past downloaded Emulators and Roms? I did thats for sure, that is until I began recollecting my youth. Now I am generally all console.

Just thought I'd see if others out there were like me. :)

I have collected pretty much 99.99% of the ROMs for most of the early consoles (atari, snes, nes, sega, n64, gameboy, gbc, gba... etc)

and, I have collected a few roms for PS1, PS2, Xbox... etc. My collection of CD based roms is not that large, because, they take up a lot of space, and I hardly ever play them.

I've done it before and still do. In the beginning I mostly used emulators, because it was more convenient to record gameplay commentary this way, but over time I've come to really enjoy the netplay feature. I don't have many friends, and those that I have mostly live in other cities in my country, so to play some of our favorite childhood games together we found emulators to be the best choice. Took a while to get it to work, but being able to play some sweet online Diddy Kong Racing with a friend was worth the time we spent on configuration.

Wow Eric, you are definitely more hardcore than I am. lol I have only ever collected the old school games. I didnt even realize you could emulate disc based games, I never really thought about it though. I might have to look into that. Yay, more games for the collection games!

I have had great luck with Ps1 and Wii with nearly all of the games working flawlessly.

I haven't used an emulator in years. I stopped using because I felt they didn't give credit where credit was due. However when you consider the thought of playing games with friend's that are otherwise not meant for online interaction, it does sound like something I need to get back into =^.^=

I have heard of Emulators but I have never actually downloaded any. From what I have heard they are worth having, depending on how you use them. My mate had Gameboy Emulator on his IPhone and he now has the original Pokemon games on his IPhone, so they obviously can't be that bad if you have the best games on the latest technology.

I think upon further reflection it looked like I was giving a slight towards emulators. I in fact love them. :) I usually play the emulated games until I can acquire them in real life. I have thousands of roms but only usually play the ones I am not currently buying. (or the lack money.)

I just usually go after the games I really want and emulate the ones I'll probably never buy. If you have not tried emulating then give it a whirl, it can be fun for those who do not have have the money or means for obtain the games they favorite.

I downloaded an emulator just to get pokemon blue but that's only because I couldn't be asked to buy a charger for it, and I prefer playing it on a big screen like my laptop. If I want a game I will save up to buy it, but if I have the urge to play some classic games I would definitely give emulators another go.
