Your 'ultimate' console?

Obviously people's 'ultimate' console would be one that could play EVERYTHING, but let's be realistic here, that's not possible......that being said, what would your ultimate console be?

For me, it'd be a disc-based console that was able to play every Sony console, Microsoft, Nintendo disc based consoles w/ the addition of the Sega Saturn & Dreamcast. I think that would be the best console experience ever, and it'd use an xbox-like controller for it all, but also allow you to plug in each system it supported's original controllers.

Think of it like a RetroN5 from Hyperkin, but for Disc-based consoles and with all original hardware inside (not a clone) for each. It'd probably be super huge but hey, that'd be my 'ultimate' console that isn't a PC. :p

My 'ultimate console' would look like a PC, tower, monitor, mouse, and keyboard. It would run an operating system very similar to Windows called Doors but be capable of running windows programs. You would be able to run emulators on it for any major game system. Parts would be upgradeable. I dub this magic console the 'ICD' or 'Individuals Computation Device'

This does NES,SNES,Sega, N64... All I need. Costs 30$.

You can emulate windows programs with mono or wine.

This is similar to the dream machine, I guess. What I would REALLY like is something similar to the Steam Machine concept, which will hopefully come out soon. Now I can get an Alienware machine without spending a fortune :)

Don't buy Alienware. You are paying mostly for the brand. Their build quality isn't all that good, I had to send mine back for repairs multiple times (opening it up myself voided the warranty) which meant sending it to Miami waiting 3 weeks, calling them and finding out that they misplaced it... twice. Yes, they lost 2 of my PCs, not shipping, they had records of receiving the computer but none of sending it back out. This was pre-Dell so it may have improved, but considering that Dell lost another of my PCs I can't exactly recommend them either.

I have had excellent results with dell, but, I am also a premier customer (For business use).. If we have issues, they come to us.

Unfortunately I don't have a spare PC. I had a laptop lying around that no one used but had an Intel integrated card. I am considering about investing in a gaming machine just for steam but their OS has still not matured

I think that mine would be a PS4 that would be able to play the Xbox One games as well. That would be a great thing and probably a win win for the gaming companies as well because they would sell even more games.

I think my "Ultimate Console" would have to go something like this,

It must have the capabilities to run old school games starting with Atari, NES, SNES, SEGA, N64 ( I didnt forget you this time 64. ) as well as Game Cube. There are more I didn't mention I know but those systems are still in my life today. Some are actually still in good condition.

You could probably shrink all of those like into individual rom emulators, like a computer can. With all the space we can now get for storage in today's market the size of those pale in comparison. Since we are all fantasizing about "Our" Ultimate Console, I would have it also let me digitally download Playstation & Xbox games up to the 360. Sorry P.S.3 and Ps4 as well as the Xbox One this is where you get left out.

Once again since we are all dreaming here..I want account exclusivity ever since I've played a game, or bought any kind of Add-On-Content, I want it! my account and console both register me as having had the rights from previous systems so in my dream console I want the ability to go to my download history and be able to do transfers from both systems into this Space-Age console.

If you have bought this it you should have the right to play it even on higher systems. All Next-Gen consoles should be required to be backwards compatible, when I think and reason this way it makes me not seem like I am asking for all that much when you stop to consider all of the money you have sank into any type of console or game, the amount is quite staggering. I cannot even fathom if I had all that money back, I would be swimming in a vault of money!!

So Yes, pardon me if I want my treasure trove to come with me. :p

Until The Next Time

^^@PrideKidd I want what your dreaming of! Except I would want to be able to play all of the newer games as well--download as they release.

It would also be fun to play on a console that instantly recognized a different controller during multiplier and allowed it into gameplay without having to be online. Like say, I wanna play with a classic N64 controller, 1 of my friend's wants to play with a Playstation 3 controller, and another wants to play with a NES controller. Everyone can play on the same system at the same time with the controller of their choice.

I really like you're idea on "account exculsivity!" and backwards compatibility :] The scores, wins, and trophies for all those games on one console would be very interesting.

Aww thank you Panda :)

sorry it has been awhile, I had to take care of a sick family member who lives in the middle of nowhere, It would be a great concept to be able to use all of the controllers at once time depending on what game you are playing. Right now I am using an Xbox 360 controller to emulate " The Legend of Zelda" while it is fun to use my favorite configurations it would be cool to be able to use just a NES controller for that. :)
