Oculus rift

So, does anyone have the Oculus Rift?? I've been dying to get my hands on one of them but they aren't available where I'm from. Reviews online seem kind of biased so I'd love a good, honest review of it. Is it actually a virtual *reality* or just meh?

I've heard great things about it but it's a completely new kind of technology, prototypes are usually vastly overpriced. I'm waiting for the 2nd or 3rd generation of virtual reality glasses before I spend my money!

I don't. I've seen lots of play throughs with people using it, but I think it's still too new to be worth buying, if that makes sense? Like, it's still needs to get all of the potential bugs out and such? It's also very expensive, for just a head set. There also isn't that many games that are for it or able to be played while using it.

Though, my father recently got a "Google Cardboard" kit for his fiance, haha.

Yeah I agree, the price is WAYYYY too high for such a bulky piece of equipment right now. I'm hoping maybe like a version 2 or 3 will come to my country. Speaking of which, I'm seriously wondering why China hasn't managed to come up with some kind of knockoff product yet.

They sold out to FB so to me they lost all credibility in my eyes.
Haha just because it's now owned by FB doesn't mean the product is gonna turn into crap. I hear instagram's still doing okay. To be honest I don't really blame them, I mean it's a lot of money AND FB creates a huge opportunity for growth

I think you'll be better off just waiting for the consumer version, if you go ahead and buy the developer version now, you will regret once you see how great and cheap the final one is.

I agree with you entirely. I've considered buying the developer kit, but it doesn't cover any updates or the release version. It only covers the version at the time you purchase it, which was a huge drawback for me. The only way I'd be sure to buy the developer kit now is if they included all of the updates and the release version into the package, which in own opinion, should be happening already.
I'm excited to see how it all turns out, it seems each time they update they add something amazing, or make it slimmer and more natural feeling. I've definitely been keeping up to date on the gameplay and review videos.
