What are your favourite classic games?

I remember when I was 9, my stepfather bought me the SEGA Master System II, and it came with a game built in called Alex Kidd in Miracle World. I absolutely adored that game, even though I was never able to finish it. Does anyone remember this game? Did anyone finish it?

Super Mario and Spyro made up a big chunk of my childhood. Everything about them was memorable: the gameplay, the music, the difficult levels. I also don't mind playing a bit of Galaga lol. That was my favorite arcade game back then.

Star Tropics, Zelda, Zelda 2: Adventure of Link, Zelda: Link to the Past. Chrono Trigger. I grew up on mostly anything and everything RPG from a young age. I got into platformers soon thereafter and I loved em ever since. Castlevania Symphony of the Night gets an honorable mention, as well as Legend of Legaia, Legend of Dragoon, and FFVII/VIII

So with you on Zelda and Zelda 2. Those games stole half my childhood... I have no regrets! haha

Aye, how could I forget Xenogears? Not even the love story, just the overall plot was kickass and the game flowed really well. The other series of Xeno, Xenosaga (For Ps2) is fantastic as well. I like that type of universe and setting, though they weren't really related but rather a re-imagining.

Taken from IGN:

The reason for their non-connectedness is twofold. First off, while team Xeno -Takahashi's crew - had left Squaresoft to form their own company (apparently due to Square's disinterest in continuing the series), Squaresoft still held the legal rights.

This. This is the only point that matters, because it trumps all the others. You can debate and theorize all you want, regardless of any arguments the bottom line is that Xenosaga and Xenogears simply cannot be connected even if Takahashi wanted them to."

He points out good points but there's no denying all the references and homages between the two. and at the Core Xeno series are about Beginnings and epic journeys to a good ending.

I think the very first Harvest Moon on game cube is my all time favourite classic. I played that game to death! Not only was it the most awesome thing for me at the time, it also was the entrance to the world of gaming for me. After I got hooked and eventually beat the game, I moved on to Animal Crossing, and Super Smash Bros and Sonic the Hedghog haha :p And it only escalated from there! Now Ive played every version of Harvest Moon for both DS and Wii, as well as most of the very similar Rune Factory games!

I never played any of the "classic" games, because I didn't get a PS2 until I was about 13 or so. :( I like Wind Waker though? I played it with my cousins when I hung with them during the summer.

I agree with Jake-Arachnid about pokemon, but for me it was also Spyro. I played that game for hours and completed it plenty of times but yet it still get old for me. To this day it is still memorable.

Mario brothers is my favorite class game. It is a childhood memory of fun and excitement with an addition of adventure. It was so much fun to beat Bowser and save Peach. The classic layout of gaming it was just a perfect game with never ending memories.
